How accurate is the barcode scanning?
We integrate with a comprehensive barcode database covering beers, wines, spirits, sodas, and more. Can't find a drink? You can add it manually in seconds.
Is TastingNote free?
Yes, TastingNote is completely free. No ads, no hidden fees, no premium tier (at least for now).
What happens if I rate the same drink twice?
TastingNote remembers it! We'll offer to log another 'try' of that drink instead of creating a duplicate. This lets you track how many times you've enjoyed each drink.
Can I add drinks that don't have barcodes?
Absolutely. You can manually enter any drink—homebrew, craft cocktails, anything. Barcode scanning is just the fastest way.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your data is encrypted and stored securely. We don't sell your information, track you across apps, or show you ads.
What devices does TastingNote work on?
TastingNote is currently available on iPhone (iOS 16+). iPad support is on the roadmap.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes, TastingNote syncs your data to the cloud, so an internet connection is required.
